Church reopening for private prayer

The announcement last week that churches in England could reopen for private prayer got us all very excited.

However, as is the case with the COVID 19 Virus, nothing is as easy as first seems.
We have had various documents from the Diocese on how we can manage this (about 7 documents leading up to this). The documentation covers opening the big city centre churches and cathedrals, but the same demands are being made of every Church. Those demands include all hand gels, cleaning daily, one-way systems, separate entry and exit etc.
We also need volunteers to act as stewards to monitor people coming in and out of church so that the rules around social distancing and hygiene is adhered too.
Until we have enough volunteers, opening times at St John’s will be restricted to Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2 till 3.30.

Sacred Heart will remain closed due to building work.
